It was surprising, at least for me, how abruptly summer turned to autumn here in Tokyo. Not only did the days suddenly seem shorter, but the stifling heat of September quickly receded in a couple weeks of rain, leaving behind an amazing trail of cool, dry days.
Really, about the only thing I feel like I’ve missed is the beautiful autumn that I’m used to seeing at home in the states. It seems as though most of the leaves are just falling off the trees without any of the beautiful change of colors that is such a part of what I’ve come to associate with this time of year. Too bad, really.
Maybe it is just that the novelty of living here is wearing off, but I really enjoyed my autumn drives around Oklahoma and the Ozark Mountains during this time last year.
